Newest Creation

I love to go shop around in 2nd hand stores and see what I find to transform into something amazing, and this is what I found....

Before:

And after:

So what do you think? The first pics I had already started the sanding, so you aren't able to see the nasty yellowish color, but on the finish piece, I choose a white paint, and then sanded it lightly, to give it a shabby sheik look. I know use it as my makeup armoire.

Tornado Warning

Last night was insane.....I was woken up by twirling winds, raging hail, and pouring rain. Next thing you know all my power goes out and the storm gets stronger....I could see the windows moving inwards and outwards as the rain pounds the window panes, and the rock hard hail almost break the glass. I was scared out of my mind, so I go and check on my little boy, and lay down with him, but he sleeps right under a window and I could have swore, it was gonna bust. I grabbed him by the hand and lead him to the masters bath, as we go by the office and its windows, the wind gets stronger, we then pass the main bath, which has a skylight, so I was mostly certain it was gonna cave in....we make it to my bedroom and then my bathroom and we slip into the tub. I wasn't sure the house was gonna withstand the storm, and as a home owner, you also think about property damage, but I just thought to my self, thank god we have insurance  for wind and hail (a requirement for this area). It was a horrifying experience sitting in the tub, with such uncertainty....never have been through something like that, being from New York and having lived int his area for exactly a year. I now understand why the insurance is required and why I have storm shutters in the garage, (FYI: about to put those up).
If I can add something important to this story is....what to do when your power goes out, you have no power (to watch the news) and can't find your cell phone???....and there is a severe storm headed your way????  (by the way once the storm was over, and the power was back on....I turned to the weather channel, and they hadn't even received the tornado info yet...it took em about 10 mins), I guess it's the downfall of living in a small town.
The only way I knew a storm was coming, was due to the class I took in Geology and Geography. It taught me a lot on weather and what conditions are needed to make certain storms happen. It was text book! It's nice to know I could actually apply a subject that has nothing to do with my career path, but has the potential to save my life. Knowledge is power!!

Tweeter said my bio was too long....so I will post my info meant for twitter on my Blog....

I live in Texas....from New York City.....so I am really far away from home, but it don't feel so bad. I like different experiences and  feel this is the one place I have been able to accomplish many good things.....so coodos to you Texas!! Yee-hah, me love u long time.....jp.
